Today, in Buzet, the document verification and technical inspection of race cars for the 43rd edition of the European Hill Climb Championship, famously known as Buzetski dani, have been successfully completed. A total of 195 cars passed the technical check and are now ready to take on the course, which has long been a symbol of motorsport in Croatia.
Exciting Practice Sessions and Races Ahead
Saturday brings the first thrills with practice sessions, where drivers will have the chance to test the track and refine their strategies. The first practice session kicks off at 9:30 AM, with the second one scheduled for 1:30 PM. These practice runs will be crucial for setting the best possible times, as many drivers aim to secure a strong starting position for the big race on Sunday.
Sunday is reserved for the real action – the first race run starts at 9:00 AM, with the second, decisive run beginning at 1:30 PM, following the official opening ceremony at 1:15 PM. The race counts towards several prestigious championships, including the FIA EHC (European Hill Climb Championship), FIA HHC (Historic Vehicles), various national championships of Croatia and Slovenia, as well as the Central European Zone (CEZ).
Key Duels and Class Battles
This year, extremely exciting battles are expected between different groups and car classes. In Category 1, special attention will be on local hero Matija Jurišić, who will be chasing crucial points in his Peugeot 308 TCR against competitors like Antonino Migliuola from Italy. For Category 2, French driver Geoffrey Schatz and Italian Christian Merli have already secured the top two spots, but the fight for prestige will remain fierce.
The Croatian Championship brings additional tension, particularly in Groups 4 and 5. Boris Katić and Florian Šalec are battling for dominance in Group 4, while in Group 5, Saša Radola and Milan Tatalović from Dubrovnik Racing will be pushing to secure maximum points ahead of the final championship round.
All motorsport enthusiasts can expect a spectacular weekend in Buzet, where battles on the track will decide key titles across multiple championships.
