EHCC the 33rd Buzetski Dani have finished; marked by a new track record, unexpectedly high drivers’ turn-up and a magnificent public. Needless to say that the Organizer, AK Buzet must be proud as they have, once again proved the title that their city is, in fact, the City of Octane! Joined venture between the spectators and an average of 400 volunteers who were beseechingly turning their eyes towards the heavy, overcast sky made this year’s event a spectacle once again: for the eleventh year in a row the EHC Champions were crowned here and new generations forged – youths who wish to continue in the footsteps of their elder peers and carry on to “live for the festival of speed”. One more thing, perhaps it is time to follow suit of other famous and popular festivals and get this race a partnering country. This year, as a Novi List journalist put it, this would definitely be Macedonia, who, even though not officially a partner, fulfilled her role as one. Try clicking Igor Stefanovski’s Facebook page an you’ll see the media coverage the fireworks display at Komušćica curve, the cheering at Svi Sveti curve or the friendly and warm atmosphere in the paddock got – amazing!!! This quiet and humble European Champion brought along the Macedonian national TV mini studio, right in the midst of the paddock, next to his yellow and orange Mitsubishi. A gesture which like many other positive ones year in, year out make this event stronger and more visited, for we all know that word of mouth is the best ad.
Nevertheless, many say that Buzetski Dani is not all about great drivers; the Organizer pays special attention to everybody and everything, regardless of car make, position in the classifications or nationality. These are the values recognised by all those who position themselves on the Start line of this race at Most. The spectators feel the same and flock to create new “hot spots” along the track, like the Svi Sveti (All Saints) curve or the number 17.
This year we have opened a new paddock, the fourth one and the Mašimova Škuja parking. If we had a bird’s view image of Buzet on Sunday afternoon, it would be one of a city under siege from the cars, spectators and octane fans. People flocked from all over Istria, Croatia and Europe!
On Friday there was the Second Driver’s Motorcade in the city Centre, at Fontana Square – the scent of octane and adrenaline was injected right into the heart of Buzet. The drivers were brought closer to the public; the children, the youth and all those who in the other 364 days of the year don’t even think about races. Mission accomplished, right? On Saturday everyone danced along Lidija Bačić in the big tent.
One could write a myriad words on this event so close to the heart of the local community and fans coming from afar. However, we’ll conclude with the fact that all the tasks were completed brilliantly and get on preparing the next event with only one main idea in our minds: perfection can be reached! Till next year…roughly same time, definitely same venue!
Thank you all!!!
